Sea World is not what you’d think
About a month ago (and again last night) we went to Sea World! We did not see Shamu and we did not get splashed in the front row by diving sea creatures. In fact, there were no sea creatures to observe. In Shenzhen, Sea World is the name of a collection of bars and restaurants south of where we live. There are many places here to sit and have a drink or grab a bite to eat but both times we’ve been here, our love for Mexican food has drawn us to Tequila Coyote’s.
To kill a coyote…
Their drink menu is extensive but bit expensive, and unfortunately that’s been the norm for many of the Western restaurants we’ve been to. Our first time at Coyote’s, I indulged in the largest drink I could find, the Mexican Bucket. The menu lists that this drink contains spice; it reminded me of the rum punches we drank in Maine. Maybe it was nutmeg? The drink wasn’t bad but wasn’t worth its price. And I wasn’t a fan of the spice.
Our second time here I was reminded about the spice so I had what Kim had, the Purist. It wasn’t as sweet as a traditional margarita but I could taste a hint of tequila. It reminded me of the simple margaritas we ordered in Maine when we were trying to cut out sugar at the start of our change to keto living.
La comida
The first time we ate here I ordered the Queso Fundido because I love cheese and fun and the name sounded very appropriate. It was so good and simple, I had it again. And it’s still awesome! It’s a big skillet of cheese, onions, one hot pepper and a protein. I think it came with chorizo the first time. I had a choice the second time I ordered it; I ordered mushrooms and they were perfect.
Aubrie found a winner in the nachos the first time and had those again. They were great! I love it when nachos automatically come with guacamole. I really love it when Aubrie decides she doesn’t like guacamole and she says, “have more nachos, Jamie. Your food hasn’t come yet.” Kim had some taquito-ish things full of chicken, cheese and guacamole, covered in lettuce and sitting atop a pool of red sauce.
In conclusion…
we left Coyote’s happy and full. When we were headed to Sea World this second time, we had pizza on the brain. Aubrie had eaten there once and loved it, however, when we stopped in front of Tequila Coyote’s to discuss where the pizza place was, the thought of Mexican food erased the notion of pizza. Maybe next time!
